State of Mississippi Voter Registration Information
Must register to vote 30 days before the election. Can select party affiliation at the polls.

Who Can Absentee Vote in Mississippi?
Any qualified and registered elector who will be absent from their county of residence on election day or unable to vote in person because of
one of the following reasons may opt to vote by absentee ballot:
1. Any enlisted or commissioned members of the United States armed forces, who are citizens of Mississippi. 2. Any member of
the Merchant Marine or American Red Cross, who is a citizen of Mississippi. 3. Any disabled war veteran who is a patient in any hospital, who is a citizen of Mississippi. 4. Any civilian attached
to and serving outside of the United States with any branch of the Armed Forces or with the Merchant Marine or American Red Cross, who is a citizen of Mississippi. 5. Any citizen of Mississippi
temporarily residing outside the territorial limits of the United States and the District of Columbia. 6. An employee engaged in interstate transportation. 7. A student, teacher or administrator.
8. An employee engaged in offshore employment, or as an employee on a vessel or other watercraft. 9. An employee, businessman, professional, tradesman or worker required to be over 50 miles away
from the county of residence on election day due to employment. 10. Anyone with a temporary or permanent physical disability. 11. Anyone 65 years of age or older. 12. A parent, spouse or
dependent of a person with a temporary or permanent disability hospitalized more than 50 miles from home county and with such person election day. 13. A member of a congressional delegation. 14.
A spouse or dependent of an absentee voter where allowed by subsection A, B, C, D, G, I or M.
How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?
Applications for absentee ballots must be made to the voter registrar's office within 45 days of the date of an election. Applications to vote by mail can only be made by persons who meet the
qualifications listed in j, k, or l above or voters temporarily residing outside their county.
Application made in person must not be later than noon on the Saturday preceding a Tuesday election
or the second day immediately preceding elections held on other days. Ballots will be completed by the voter at the time of application.
How do I Return the Absentee Ballot and What is the Deadline?
Once completed, the ballot must be received by the registrar no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day preceding the election. Ballots must be notarized by an official
authorized to administer an oath or authorized to witness a voter's signature (Disabled persons must sign the elector's certificate and have the attesting witness certificate signed by anyone 18 years of
age or older, but are not required to have it sworn and subscribed).
