Must register to vote 30 days before the election.
Can change or select party affiliation 30 days before the election.

Who Can Absentee Vote in Nevada?

A registered who meets one of the following criteria may opt to vote absentee:

1. Voter is at least 65 years old; or
2. Voter has a physical disability or condition which substantially impairs his/her ability to go to the polling place; or
3. Voter will be out of his/her voting precinct on the day of the election.

How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?

A voter may request an absentee ballot for all elections held during the year he/she requests an absent ballot.

The registered voter must include in the request the reason that he/she wishes to vote absentee. A voter meeting one of the requirements listed above may, at any time before 5 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding any election, make an application to the county clerk for an absentee ballot. The application may be hand-delivered or mailed to the clerk.

Nevada also offers early voting. Those who wish to vote absentee in person may do so at the clerk's office during the two-week period ending ending four days prior to the election.

How do I Return the Absentee Ballot and What is the Deadline?

The voted ballot may be hand-delivered or mailed to the county clerk, but it must be returned no later than the close of polls on election day.

Emergency Absentee Voting:

Any registered voter who is unable to go to the polls...

1. Because of an illness or disability resulting in his/her confinement in a hospital, sanatorium, dwelling or nursing home; or
2. Because he/she is suddenly hospitalized, becomes seriously ill or is called away from home after the time has elapsed for requesting an absent ballot

...may submit a written request to the county clerk for an absent ballot. The request may be submitted at any time before 5 p.m. on the day of the election and must include the following information:

- Applicant's name, address and signature
- The name, address and signature of the person designated by the registered voter to obtain, deliver and return the ballot for the registered voter
- A brief statement of the illness or disability of the registered voter or of facts sufficient to establish that the registered voter was called away from home after the time had elapsed for requesting an absent ballot
- If the voter is confined in a hospital, sanatorium, dwelling or nursing home, a statement that he/she will be confined therein on the day of the election, and
- The signature of the person designated by the registered voter to obtain, deliver and return the ballot for the registered voter.

If the county clerk determines that a request submitted includes the information required, the county clerk shall, at the office of the county clerk, deliver an absent ballot to the person designated in the request to obtain the ballot for the registered voter. The voted ballot must be returned to the county clerk no later than the close of polls on election day.
