State of Minnesota Voter Registration Information
Must register to vote 20 days before the election or on election day at the polls. Can select party affiliation at the polls.

Who Can Absentee Vote in Minnesota?
A registered voter may vote by absentee ballot if on election day he/she is:
1. Away from his/her precinct; or 2. Ill or disabled; or 3. Prevented from going to the polling place by a religious holiday or beliefs; or
4. An election judge serving in another precinct
How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?
The county auditor or municipal clerk can tell voters how and where to apply.
To vote absentee by mail: Voters should apply early as to allow time to mail back or deliver the absentee ballot before election day. Voters may write or fax the appropriate office for an
application. In some places the application can be returned by fax.
To vote absentee in person: Voters must apply for and vote the absentee ballot during normal office hours before the
election. Voting can also be done on the Saturday afternoon (from 1 pm to 3 pm) or on the Monday evening (from 5 pm to 7 pm) before the election.
How do I Return the Absentee Ballot and What is the Deadline?
Ballots must be returned to the county auditor or city clerk no later than the close of polls on Election Day.
Other Information on Absentee Voting in Minnesota
In the military or outside the U.S., voting guidelines are based on the applicant's last Minnesota city of residence. The voter, or his/her parent, spouse,
brother, sister, or child (at least 18 years of age) can apply for a ballot for the voter.
