CONNECTICUT ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Who Can Absentee Vote in Connecticut?
A registered voter may vote absentee if unable to vote in person due to: - illness or physical disability; or
- absence from town during all election hours; or - religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day; or - service as an election official at a polling place other than their own.
A party-enrolled registered voter may request an absentee ballot application for a primary as well as for an election.
How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?
Applications for absentee ballots are available from the Town Clerk and the Secretary of the State's Web site
(http://www.sots.state.ct.us/ElectionsDivision/Elecform.html). Any voter already out of town may have one mailed to them - he/she should allow sufficient time for two round-trip mailings: application
plus ballot.
Ballots are available to be mailed or picked up 30 days before an election, or 19 days before a primary.
How do I Return the Absentee Ballot and What is the Deadline?
Ballots may be mailed or hand-delivered to the Town Clerk and they must be received by the clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Other Information on Absentee Voting in Connecticut
For emergency use of an absentee ballot, voters should call their Town Clerk.
