SpeakOut.com helps officials by making it simpler for staffers to review their messages. We bundle each official's messages into a simple summary for each issue. We sort them by each writer's gender and position on the issue, and identify those who live in the official's voting district. Our goal is to enhance communications between you and your elected officials. If you are taking the time to communicate, we want to make sure your voice is heard. Our job is to make sure the information you are providing is in an organized and value-added format for the end recipient.

What do we mean by value-added? We mean that the recipient of your e-mail wants to know something about the person who has written to them. For instance, an elected official wants to know if you are a constituent, that means live within their district. All opinions count--we know that today's teenagers are tomorrow's voters.

Many elected officials are adopting e-mail as a communications tool, but many also prefer to send letters, and they cannot respond without your physical address. Gender is also important for tracking issues and any issues that may be affected by gender. This is the information that we collect during registration.
