Press Releases | In the News | Media Contact Info Press Release SPEAKOUT.COM AND DNC KICK OFF FIRST INTERACTIVE PARTY PLATFORM IN HISTORY WASHINGTON - April 6, 2000 - SpeakOut.com and the DNC today introduced a revolutionary online interactive tool that will give American citizens a direct say in the issues expressed in the Democratic Party platform. The "Interactive Platform" will be available for public use as of 12:01 a.m., April 7, 2000 on the DNC Web site www.democrats.org. A SpeakOut.com and Democratic National Committee (DNC) Interactive Platform will allow Internet users to log in, review planks in the 1996 Democratic Platform, and submit their own suggestions for the 2000 Platform. Users may select the issues on which they wish to comment and submit their ideas to the Platform Committee of the Democratic National Convention. The Vice President will kick-off the first of these DNC Grassroots Forums tomorrow in Delray Beach, Florida, which will be Webcast by INTERVU Inc. (Nasdaq: ITVU) available at www.speakout.com. Through INTERVU Netpodium, an interactive Web event technology, people from around the country will be able to watch this event live via computer. "SpeakOut.com and the DNC share the hope that thousands of Americans will participate in the 2000 platform process facilitated by the Interactive Democratic Platform," said Ron Howard, chairman and CEO, SpeakOut.com. "The tool we have built for the DNC uses 21st century technology to encourage the traditional American ideal of citizen participation in the political process." SpeakOut.com, a non-partisan activism portal that also maintains activism partnerships with the RNC and the Reform Party, has been developing the Interactive Platform with the DNC since late last year. "Our grassroots forums and the Interactive Platform will allow the Democratic Party - always the party of openness and inclusion - to open up the platform process to include Americans as never before," DNC National Chair Joe Andrew said. "For the first time in history, a party's statement of its ideals and aspirations will be open for comments and suggestions electronically from ordinary Americans as well as party activists." The Internet allows for an easy, straightforward process of reviewing the platform approved by the Democratic Party in 1996, and permits individuals to write their own platforms for the year 2000. Users can submit comments on the topics they choose, such as health care or education, or submit an entire platform if they wish. About SpeakOut.com: Based in Washington, D.C., SpeakOut.com is a non-partisan, venture-funded political activism portal whose primary mission is to enhance the democratic process by forming a strong link between the people and their elected officials.
